Education as a vaccine against HIV/AIDS, EVA. Nigeria
Winners of the STARS 2012 Education Impact Award for its work for twelve years to tackle sexual health taboos in one of the most populous countries in Africa. Prioritising inlusion and innovation, EVA uses technology (including a 3-in-1 mobile phone service that allows young people to ask questions through text messages, voice calls and email/web) and youth-led outreach to provide education and counselling on HIV prevention and sexual health. The organisation also seeks to influence policymakers and implementers in order to have a more open and constructive conversation about the sexual health realities faced by Nigeria's young people.
